Itinerary:
7:00 AM: Leave Monroeville, PA
8:00 AM: Meet your step-on guide at 100 Ridgeview Dr, Smithfield, PA. As we drive toward Morgantown, your guide will share the unique characteristics of the iconic and beautiful Chestnut Ridge mountain range.
8:30 – 9:15 AM: Apple Annie’s Bakery & Restaurant (Rest Break and Continental Breakfast on own). Start your morning at what is widely considered one of the best bakeries in the country (2025 nominated by USA Today readers as some of the best in the country). Enjoy a selection of their scratch-made pastries, muffins, fruit and cream pies, cupcakes, and West Virginia pepperoni rolls, in a warm, family-owned atmosphere that has made them a local legend. Don't miss their famous 4oz oatmeal raisin cookies.
10:00 – 11:00 AM: Coopers Rocks Experience, breathtaking scenic views from the iconic main overlook. This "Almost Heaven" destination offers amazing photo opportunities of the Cheat River Canyon and the surrounding ridges. You are now in "Almost Heaven," West Virginia, where the vibrant foliage of the hills and forests provides a breathtaking backdrop.
11:15-2:15 PM SUNSET BEACH CRUISE AND LUNCH: Enjoy a heavenly view while pontoon cruising on beautiful Cheat Lake in Morgantown, West Virginia (fall tours are especially colorful with the vibrant foliage reflecting on the water!). Lunch is served on land by the Lake House Restaurant with continued views of a heavenly West Virginia lake and mountains.
2:45 – 3:15 PM: Don Knotts Statue, history and Downtown Morgantown Tour with hop-on-guide. Pay tribute to Morgantown’s own legendary actor at the Don Knotts Statue, located outside the historic Metropolitan Theatre. This stop honors the Emmy Award-winning star of The Andy Griffith Show in the heart of his hometown. You will receive lots of WV swag and coupons!!
3:30 – 4:00 PM: Ride the Monorail PRT for WVU Experience the unique Personal Rapid Transit system, a one-of-a-kind monorail serving West Virginia University, a campus area filled with highlands of their own. The WVU Personal Rapid Transit (PRT) is significant as the first large-scale, automated guideway system in the U.S. and was a 1970s groundbreaking federal research project by the Department of Transportation and Boeing to test future urban mobility, using small, automated, electric vehicles (pods) for on-demand, non-stop personal transport for university campuses, influencing future urban transit concepts despite its unique niche, and becoming an iconic, enduring solution for campus mobility in Morgantown for over 50 years. 4:30 – 5:15 PM: Forks of Cheat Winery and Distillery Nestled in the Appalachian Mountains, this family-owned winery produces prize-winning wines and spirits using old-world traditions. Enjoy a tasting of delicious wines and moonshine while relaxing on the patio to take in the "Wild Wonderful" beauty of the surrounding forests, vineyards and the beautiful Chestnut Ridge.
